1. 개요
대한민국의 교수이자 공학자. 다양한 분야에서 연구를 하고 있으며, 비투비의 멤버 이창섭이 진행하는 전과자에서 독보적인 캐릭터를 보유한 교수로 많은 시청자들에게 화제와 관심을 받고 있는 교수이다.2. 경력
서울대학교 금속공학 82학번으로 입학, 학사/석사 취득 후 1994년 MIT에서 재료공학 박사학위를 취득했다. 박사학위를 취득한 그 해 삼성전자측의 제의로 삼성 반도체 연구소에서 선임연구원(Senior Researcher)로 근무하였고, 이후 교수로 초빙되어 2000년 인하대학교 공과대학 신소재공학과 교수로 11년간 근무했다. 11년 교수 생활 동안 인하대 공대 전체에서 탑급의 연구실적을 자랑하여 수많은 러브콜을 받았으며, 2009년에는 미시간 대학교에 박사후연구원으로 전기/컴퓨터공학과[1]에 3개월 동안 근무, 이후 미시간대 화학과에서 방문 겸임교수로서 10개월간 연구했다. 이후 아들이 한양대학교에 진학하자 2011년 한양대학교 신소재공학부 교수로 부임, 현재까지 강의와 연구를 이어나가고 있다. 현재는 한양대학교 가스센서 연구실을 단독으로 운영 중에 있다.그의 경력과 수상 내역이 말해주듯, 엄청난 천재이며 현재 국내 금속공학의 대표 권위자 중 한 명이다.
