1969년에 발매된 비틀즈 정규 10집 Yellow Submarine의 2번 트랙.

Anthology 2 버전 Yellow Submarine Songtrack 디지털 스테레오 리믹스 버전
당시 비틀즈에게 계약금을 지급하지 않았던 회사 'Northern Song'을 까는 곡으로, 정확히 말하자면 조지 역시 노던 송스에 작곡가로 이름이 올려져 있는데 존과 폴에 비해 자기 몫에 해당하는 금액이 적은 것을 까는 것이다.[1] 그 때문에 곡 자체가 심기가 뒤틀려 있다.[2]

1967년 2월, 4월에 녹음되었고, 이 노래의 가사는 비록 가볍지만, 조지 해리슨이 확립한 주제인 자기성찰과 약간의 인간애를 이어간다. 폴 매카트니는 이 곡에서 자신이 트럼펫을 바보 같이 불어서 싫어한다고 한다.

이 곡은 스테레오 믹싱 중 오류가 나는 바람에 모노 버전을 이용한 가짜 스테레오를 만들어 수록했다. 1987년 CD에는 이 버전이 수록되었고, 2009년 리마스터링 CD에는 오리지널 모노 버전이 수록되었다. 그러니까 이 곡의 사실상 첫 스테레오 버전은 1999년 위에 있는 Yellow Submarine Songtrack 버전이다.[3] 참고로 원래는 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 앨범에 수록될 예정이었으며 당시 수록 예정이었던 버전이 위에 Anthology 2 버전이다. 발매된 음원에 비해 효과음이 적고 톤이 높은 것이 특징.

[1] 당시 한 곡을 팔면 수익금의 반이 비틀즈의 몫으로 들어왔는데 그 중에서 대다수는 존과 폴이 가져갔다고 한다. 이 당시 조지 해리슨은 "존 레논이 만든 10곡보다 내가 만든 1곡이 가치 있다"며 존 레논을 디스하기도 했다.[2] 여담이지만 이후 비틀즈는 이런 사례들 때문에 애플 레코드라는 음반사를 세워서 자체적으로 음반 배급에 나섰고, 망했다. 이는 비틀즈 해체의 주요 원인으로 지적되기도 한다.[3] 다만 이 버전을 오리지널 스테레오라고 하지는 않는다.
