존 앤더슨이 녹음한 앰비언트 사운드가 총 50여초간 흐르면서 점점 더 소리가 커진다. 이후 스티브 하우의 기타와 릭 웨이크먼의 키보드가 연주된다. 전주 부분은 하드 록에 가까운 사운드를 들려주며 동시에 가사의 내용을 전달하려는듯한 몽환적인 사운드도 특징이다.이후 4분에 들어서 존 앤더슨의 보컬이 나오기 시작한다. 이 부분에서 기타와 보컬의 박자는 12/8박인데, 드럼과 베이스의 박은 4/3박의 일정한 박자로 연주한다. 5분대 이후 노래는 조금 더 가라앉은 분위기로 이어지며, 6분 4초에서 존 앤더슨의 보컬이 끝나고 다시 스티브 하우의 기타 연주에 잠깐 돌입하며 파트 2가 시작된다.
