밥 말리 앤 더 웨일러스의 앨범 Burnin' 에 수록되었다. 라이브 앨범에도 수록되었다. 에릭 클랩튼의 커버 버전은 461 Ocean Boulevard 에 수록되었다.제목을 직역하자면 "나는 보안관을 쏘았어"라는 다소 아리송한 뜻이다. 이는 은유적인 표현이며, 이 곡은 평소 생명 존중 사상이 강했던 밥 말리가 무분별한 피임에 대해 반대하며 작곡한 곡이다. 당시에는 록 음악가들이 그루피들과 밤을 보낸 뒤 아이가 생기자 아기를 책임질 수 없어서 지우는 일이 빈번했는데[1][2], 밥 말리는 이에 반대하는 목적으로 곡을 쓴 것. 정작 이 곡을 커버한 사람이 그루피 이력이라면 데이비드 보위, 믹 재거, 지미 페이지 못지 않은 에릭 클랩튼이라는게 아이러니하다.
