1968년 발매된 버즈의 6번째 정규 앨범이다. 데이비드 크로스비와 마이클 클락이 나간 뒤, 그램 파슨스와 크리스 힐먼의 사촌인 케빈 켈리가 들어오게 된 라인업 상태에서 녹음 되었다. 전술했듯이, 컨트리 음악에 락 사운드를 입힌 컨트리 락이라는 새로운 장르를 개척한 앨범이다. 버즈 특유의 찰랑거리는 기타 사운드가 사라져서 그런지는 몰라도 차트 성적이 참 저조 했는데, 빌보드 200에선 77위에 오르고 영국에선 아예 차트에 들지도 못했다. 하지만, 현재는 재평가를 받고 있고 AllMusic에서 5/5점, Uncut 매거진에서 5/5점, 피치포크 미디어에서 9.7/10점을 받고, 롤링 스톤 선정 500대 명반에서 274위를 차지하는 등 평론가들에게도 아주 좋은 평가를 받고 있다. 참고로, 이 앨범에 있는 11곡 중 자작곡은 단 2곡 뿐이다.

그램 파슨스는 이 앨범만 참여하고 음악적 갈등 때문에 밴드틀 탈퇴했다. 그리고 더 플라잉 부리또 브라더스란 밴드를 결성해서 이 앨범과 비슷한 스타일인 The Gilded Palace of Sin이란 데뷔 앨범을 발매했다.
