영국의 펑크 록 밴드 더 클래시의 노래.2. 상세
정규 3집 London Calling의 세 번째 싱글로 발매되었다. 기존에는 앨범 트랙 리스트에 올라와 있지 않았는데 의도적인 것이 아니라 앨범 발매 직전에 트랙 리스트를 수정할 틈도 없이 제작 중이던 음반에 급하게 끼워넣었기 때문에 초기에만 히든 트랙으로 수록되었다. 빌보드 핫 100 30위권 내에 진입한 클래시의 첫 곡이다.싱글로 발표하기 전까지 이 노래 제목을 후렴구에 나오는 Stand By Me로 생각하는 사람이 많았다. 따라서 벤 E. 킹의 노래 Stand by Me와 혼용되는것을 방지하기 위해 'Train in Vain'이라는 제목으로 발매했으며, 미국에서는 "Train in Vain (Stand by Me)"이라는 제목으로 발매되었다. 믹 존스가 곡을 썼는데 더 슬릿츠(The Slits)의 노래 'Typical Girls'의 답가로 더 슬릿츠의 기타리스트인 비브 앨버틴(Viv Albertine)과의 이별후 작곡했다.
