Be Here Now에서 두 번째로 싱글 커트된 곡으로 대중적이고 따뜻한 발라드 노래다. 특히 일본, 한국 등 아시아권에서 인기가 많았고 많은 사람들이 '오아시스' 하면 심심찮게 이 곡을 꼽기도 한다.[2]
데이빗 보위의 'All the Young Dudes'의 코드 체인지와 유사한 곡 구성이 느껴진다.
가사가 이전의 오아시스답지 않게 낙관보다는 내면의 불안을 내포하는 곡이다.
뮤직비디오 또한 다른 오아시스의 뮤직비디오들과는 다르게 교훈적인 편이다. 전체적으로 서술 트릭 기법을 사용했는데, 초반에는 부정적인 장면들을 쭉 보여주지만 후반부에서는 왜 그런 장면들이 나왔는지를 차례대로 보여주며 어떠한 일 또는 사람을 한 장면만 보고 판단하지 말자는 뜻을 내포하고 있다. 뮤직비디오 해석 글 이러한 연유 때문에 해당 곡의 뮤직비디오는 팬들 사이에서 오아시스의 뮤직비디오 중 가장 잘 만든 뮤직비디오로 꼽힌다.[3]

3. 여담
이 곡의 뮤직비디오에서 이 장면의 배경에 The Beatles라고 적힌 표지판이 등장한다. 노엘의 뒤에 붙어있는 포스터는 오아시스 전설의 공연 중 하나로 남아있는 96년 넵워스(Knebworth) 공연의 포스터이다.
싱글 앨범 뒷면에 실린 사진은 1992년 잠실주경기장에서 열렸던 통일교의 합동 결혼식 장면이다. 앨범 내지의 사진 역시 해외에서 열린 합동 결혼식으로 추정된다.
최근 리암의 3집 투어 셋리스트에 포함되었다.
[1] 이 곡은 오아시스 데뷔 이전에 Lock All The Doors이라는 제목으로 이미 작곡되어 있었던 곡이며, 이후에 재녹음을 통해 Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds의 2집 4번 트랙으로서 정식으로 수록된다.[2] 그러한 이 곡의 영향 때문인지, 심지어 어린 세대 중에서는 "Stand by Me"라는 제목을 언급하면 벤 E. 킹의 노래가 아닌, 오아시스를 연상하기도 한다.[3] 이러한 팬들의 반응과는 달리 아이러니하게도 노엘은 뮤직비디오를 보고 수치스럽다(disgraceful), 제작비를 회수하고 싶다는 코멘트를 남긴 바가 있다(...).[4] 노엘 본인의 경험담으로, 처음 런던으로 이사해서 혼자 살게 됐을때 어머니가 계속 밥 좀 잘 챙겨먹으라고 전화를 하시길래 마음먹고 직접 선데이 로스트를 요리해 먹었는데, 이후 이틀동안 식중독으로 고생했다고 한다(...)
