1. 개요

강원특별자치도 고성군 간성읍 간성로 24 (신안리)에 소재한 버스 터미널. 거진읍 거진리의 거진종합버스터미널과 함께 고성군의 양대 터미널이다.

고성군청, 고성경찰서, 고성교육지원청, 고성중학교, 고성고등학교 등으로 가려면 이 터미널에서 내려야 한다. 애석하게도 고성초등학교는 경상남도 고성군에만 있다.[1] 이쪽 고성군으로 가겠다고 고성여객자동차터미널로 가면 대단히 곤란하다.[2]

동서울 방면 한정 왕복 예매가 가능하다. 08:00, 08:30 시간대는 휴가 나가는 22사단 소속 군인들이 많이 탑승한다. 그렇기 때문에 이 시간대 이용하는 사람들은 예매가 필수다. 만일 자리가 없다면? 속초로 가거나 진부령행 10번 버스를 타고 진부령에서 원통행 5번 버스를 탄 다음 원통에서 동서울이나 성남행 금강고속 시외버스를 타고 가야 한다.

서울 방면은 동서울종합터미널로 가는 노선이 하루 11회 운행한다(금강고속). 무정차(5회)는 홍천군 두촌면 두촌휴게소에 잠시 정차하고, 일반은 백담사, 원통, 인제, 신남, 홍천 중 선택해서 정차한다. 소요시간은 2시간 30분부터 3시간 이상까지 다양하다. 전부 시외라서 요금은 똑같으니, 서울로 빨리 가려면 시간을 잘 맞추자. 아니면 무정차노선이 꽤 있는 속초로 내려오거나.

강릉 방면으로는 속초, 강릉아산병원(사천병원), 강릉, 동해, 포항을 경유해서 부산종합버스터미널로 가는 노선이 1회, 속초만 경유해서 바로 부산으로 가는 노선이 1회 있다(금아여행). 중앙고속도로를 통해 강원특별자치도로 가는 노선들이 많은 대구 북부정류장에서는 고성군으로 가는 버스가 없어서 속초에서 환승해야 한다.

수요 감소에 따라 서울행, 부산행 말고는 모든 노선이 운행을 안 한다.

서울 방면 및 강릉 방면 노선 대부분이 거진읍의 거진종합버스터미널까지 올라간다. 이들 중 일부는 또 대한민국의 통치력이 미치는 최북단 터미널인 현내면 철통리의 대진시외버스터미널까지 올라간다. 현지인에 따르면 시간대나 노선이 안 맞을 때는 속초고속버스터미널이나 속초시외버스터미널에 가면 웬만한 버스는 다 탈 수 있다 카더라.

[1] 간성읍 내에 간성초등학교는 있다. 경남 고성군에도 고성중, 고성고가 있긴 하다.[2] 부산, 포항에 양쪽 고성으로 가는 노선이 모두 존재한다. 부산의 경우 경남 고성행은 금호고속과 금아여행이 공동으로, 강원 고성행은 금아여행이 단독으로 운행하기 때문에 사정이 낫지만 나머지 터미널에서는 모두 금아여행에서 운행하기 때문에 헷갈릴 수 있다. 강원특별자치도 고성군과 경상남도 고성군은 자동차로도 최소 6시간은 걸릴 정도로 거리가 멀다.
